At QO Amsterdam we run a responsible horeca business that tells the story of sustainable restaurants and bars. We try to play a positive role in the community we live and work in by connecting to the neighborhood at the Amstelkwartier located in Amsterdam Oost. From the circular greenhouse on the roof to the table, we show how a responsible business can be fun and sexy. Our options go from an amazing Dutch Eatery “Persijn” on the ground floor to a stunning Skybar “Juniper & Kin” at 70m height. In between we run a bar/lounge, a semi-open banqueting & events space and room service 2.0.

Executive Chef Alexander Brouwer and General Manager Pieter Ham run this business with a fun-filled and diverse team of passionate people. We are inspired and supported by a range of industry experts including chef Luc Kusters (founder of Dutch Cuisine – owner of Bolenius restaurant*) and Rene van Camp (Head of Restaurants & Bars – IHG Europe). Our Chief Steward is hands on and supervises and coordinates activities of the stewarding department. You inspect work areas such as the kitchen, storeroom and equipment to ensure they are up to standard and you monitor cleaning activities and the hygiene in our R&B outlets.

As a Chief Steward you are in charge of inventory management in the stewarding department. You work closely together with the kitchen and restaurant teams to ensure there's enough inventory to meet demand and to ensure that everything comes in on budget. You formulate plans to improve the efficiency of your department and prevent waste.

You are responsible for ensuring that your team members meet standards of cleanliness and sanitation according to regulations on proper handling of food and kitchen equipment to protect your colleagues and guests from to unhygienic handling of food. You train and coach your team members and make sure food safety policies and HACCP standards are followed and monitored.

Next to this you maintain all the records concerning your department and you reduce loss and breakage as much as possible. In this role you report to the Executive Chef.


You have a hands on mentality and you are used to supervise, train and motivate a multicultural team. You have transparent communication skills in Dutch as well as in English. You have good knowledge of HACCP rules and regulations.

You need to work with your colleagues and your neighbours to develop and deliver on these projects.
