We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Sales to lead the sales team of the Pestana Amsterdam Riverside Hotel and also to coordinate the sales activities of the Pestana Hotels in Europe (outside Portugal) by way of finding synergies and adding value across segments and channels.

The Pestana Hotel Group is the largest Portuguese hotel group with 100 hotels in 16 countries across three continents and 7,000 employees. With a pipeline of 20 hotels for the coming 3 years, the group owns or leases most of its properties and generates annual EBITDA in excess of 150 MEUR across its various businesses.

JOB DESCRIPTION – DIRECTOR OF SALES

You will be primarily responsible for delivering an ambitious business plan and significantly grow the existing customer base of the Pestana Amsterdam Riverside. As such, you will be expected to have a proven professional track record and extensive knowledge of the Dutch/Amsterdam market (broader experience in other Western European markets is a plus), in particular of 4 and 5 star hotels. In addition, you will be responsible for optimising the collaboration between the sales teams of the (currently) six Pestana hotels in Europe, excluding Portugal.

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks:
  • Conduct market research to identify business opportunities across different channels and create an effective and far-reaching action plan
  • Actively promote and position the hotel, as well as its different venues and outlets
  • Actively seek new business in line with the hotel and company’s strategic goals
  • Analise the competitors' activities and pricing strategies along with Revenue Management
  • Increase revenue from corporate accounts, MICE and DMC’s
  • Develop and implement key account management, both nationally and internationally
  • Create sales and statistical reports and manage customer data platforms that allows management to have visibility over market performance, sales activities and business prospects
  • Reach out to and synergise with the sales and marketing teams of other hotels within Pestana, in particular those in Europe (including in the corporate office in Portugal), with the view to maximising cross-selling opportunities in all segments and channels, exchanging best practices and commercial tools and platforms as well as finding ways to working efficiently and effectively towards common objectives
JOB CRITERIA:

We value people with:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in senior roles within the sales department in the hospitality sector in Amsterdam (preferably with deep knowledge of the 4/5 star hotel dynamics) and abroad
  • Proven experience in structuring sales plans to achieve ambitious targets
  • Experience in managing statistical information to support the day to day job, including revenue pick up/pace reports, monthly performance figures and key account analysis
  • Experience in the RFP process
  • Good understanding of Opera and GDS channels
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, both orally and in writing
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Positive attitude and team player mindset, capable to work in a multicultural setting
  • Flexibility and 'can-do' mentality
